But that's still just bullshit Hooda. Come on. If his cause celeb
is Medicare for All, then his contributing to a charity is irrelevant. Bernie Sanders even with his upper 6 figure income cannot finance Medicare for all. There's simply no hypocrisy in this. It does not meet the definition. Policy makers have to use taxes and/or budget cuts to pay for it.
It's a whole separate issue if you want to say that the Bern is not a generous guy. It just doesn't tie into to his policy objectives, and I still think the elephant in the room for any Trump supporter is: "tell me again what Trump donated as a % of his annual income?" Let's further remember that the Bern, Warren, and the more progressive left - they don't believe in charity instead of govt paid services. That hypocrisy tag could be more appropriately hung on a rich conservative who favors low taxes, a skimpy social safety net, and does not give much to charity, which is supposed to take up the slack in his model.
I guess your response is "well, Bern holds himself out as this nice, socially conscious guy, whereas we all know Trump only gives a shit about himself". It baffles me how any repub planning to support Trump has anything at all to say about this. Bern, Warren, Mayor Pete, etc. - none of them exist in a vacuum. We know one of them will be competing against Trump, so all of these things are purely relative arguments. "Bern only gave 4% to charity and Trump gave...he gave....uhhhh...well I don't know what he gave!!!" Never mind. [Post edited by hoolstoptheheels at 04/16/2019 3:49PM]
